Toddlin' to Jesus

Sundays 11AM

Designed for ages infant to 3 years old, these brief 20-minute programs feature bible stories geared towards the youngest among us. We welcome parents to share the experience with their little ones, and to view it as an opportunity to learn how to talk with their young kids at home about Jesus and the many lessons the bible has for children and families. Contact Marlo Schulz-Kittl through the church office at 312-642-7172 for more information.

Pre-K and Kindergarten

Sundays 11AM

We follow the Spark Activate Faith series, a comprehensive bible-based program that encourages children in their faith through bible study, music, and science as well as activities like art, bible skills games, cooking, and creative drama geared towards children ages 3 to 5 years old. Contact Marlo Schulz-Kittl through the church office at 312-642-7172 for more information.

Elementary

Sundays 11AM

We follow the Spark Activate Faith series for children in first through sixth grade as well. These programs follow a similar comprehensive bible-based approach designed to encourage these elementary-age children to learn and grow in their faith through bible stories, music, games, and activities. Junior and
Senior High

Sundays 11AM

We follow the re:form foundational theology approach designed to give youth the tools for critical thinking, faithful reflection, and discovery, while laying the foundation for lifelong faith formation. Past students tell us these programs have empowered them to explore their faith and ask the questions they actually wonder about the bible, the creed, the disciples, Jesus, and other beliefs they hear about during Sunday worship services, as well as other timely topics of interest to them.

Other faith nurturing opportunities for junior and senior high youth include:

  • Junior/ Senior Spring Retreat April 6-7, 2018
Wonder, from Psalm 40:5 (Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us), is the theme for this year's retreat hosted at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, IL. The event will feature the Skit Guys, worship, bible study on topics relevant to junior and senior high youth, and opportunities for service
  • First Communion Instruction
These classes are for students beginning in 3rd grade, or when the student and parents feel they're ready, who want to begin participating in Holy Communion. Contact Pastor Johnson for more information and to make arrangements with your family to determine the number of sessions needed to cover the materials.
  • Confirmation Instruction
This two-year cycle of study, designed for students in 7th and 8th grades, covers the six chief parts of the Christian faith following the Living Luther’s Catechism curriculum and Luther’s Small Catechism, preparing students to be confirmed members of the Christian faith. We begin instruction on September 17, 2017, meeting once a month, except in December, and finishing before Holy Week.

Contact Marlo Schulz-Kittl through the church office at 312-642-7172 for more information on any of these programs.
