Why would a Lutheran church host a pet blessing?
7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? 10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
Because as Christians, we are grateful for the many gifts God gives us in our lives, including these special creatures that are our companions, echoing God’s love for us.
We invite members of the community to bring pets of all kinds to First Saint Paul’s patio (on Goethe St. between LaSalle St. and Clark St.) to receive a blessing. We welcome non-pet owners and everyone who is thankful for all the creatures of God’s creation to join in fellowship and make new friends.
