INTRODUCTION TO MISSION 2008
Informational meetings led by Deaconess Nunes and the Mission 2008 Task Force will be held in order to share the philosophy and Biblical basis for Mission 2008 along with the specific calendar of events, donation needs, and other ways to begin preparing for the journey.

MISSION 2008: PHYSIOLOGICAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES OF LONELINESS
Dr. Louise Hawkley, Associate Director of the Social Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Chicago will be speaking about the physiological and psychological issues related to loneliness. This forum will be a great way to prepare us for the Mission 2008 experience.

Julie Delezenne from Chicago's Night Ministry will speak about loneliness. She will include examples related to her experiences with events on the streets of Chicago after dark. More information about this organization can be found at http://www.nightministries.org/.

MISSION 2008 DAY TRIPS
Day trips are defined as periodic interactions with a variety of Chicago populations who have been targeted as having a high percentage of people who might be suffering with loneliness. Each trip will include an onsite lecture, facilities tour, and interaction with their population which may include senior citizens, foster children,
Military veterans, hospitalized children, people with physical handicaps, the homebound of our own congregation, and those transitioning from homelessness to assisted living. Each visit will provide us with a time respond to our neighbors with love.

MISSION 2008 DEBRIEFING
An interactive panel-led forum made up of participants from our congregation. This forum is intended to help us reflect on the Mission 2008 experience and to collect ideas for congregational connection to the community.
Together we will:
1) Recognize God in the person of the lonely and suffering
2) Show love to God through works of charity and service to the lonely
3) Unite with the larger church, each other, and the world in prayer and sacrifice
4) Keep the family spirit
5) Be good stewards
